One of my good buddies Mark drove a customers truck (who had an unfortunate accident) down from Salt Lake and that is how this day started. He needed to ride Ray’s bike home for us and we decided to reward him with some riding in Moab. The customer (Tony) crashed on the Shafer trail, so we decided to go ahead and conquer it in his name. First we headed into Arches National Park to let Mark have a look, its a nice ride on a motorcycle.
We eventually made our way to the Shafer trail and were very careful going around the rock that got Tony the day before. We encountered a section of road that was completely covered in water and there was no way around it, except directly through it. So I headed in to find that it was about 2 feet deep! The big BMW’s just kept chugging along until we got through it. It was a rush!
We followed the colorado river for a portion of the trail and the views were awesome. We stopped and got some great pictures! The weather once again was excellent.
The Shafer Trail was awesome as it snaked along through the mountains and we rode all the switch backs to the top of the mesa. Then it was back to Salt Lake City on the tarmac. A great day spent on the beemers.
